The Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL) announced that the lockdown was over at the Gérard-Filion secondary school in Longueuil where staff members and students had been detained since 11:15 a.m. following threats made by a minor.
“The deconfinement of students is currently underway,” wrote SPAL on the X network, while inviting parents to follow the publications of the Marie-Victorin School Service Center in order to reach and pick up their children.
Remember that SPAL agents arrested a minor boy outside the premises, Boulevard Curé-Poirier Ouest, in connection with this story. The suspect is currently being questioned. No weapons were found in connection with this event.
According to Mr. François Boucher, SPAL public relations officer, the police were deployed to the school after being informed that threatening remarks had been made. Once there, they were able to arrest a minor who could potentially be charged with public mischief and threats. This person of interest does not attend the Gérard-Filion school.
As the story is still under investigation, we have not been told what the nature of the comments were or by what means they were made.
