All staff and students at the Gérard-Filion school in Longueuil are currently confined inside this establishment following a police intervention relating to the expression of threats made by a minor who was arrested.
The minor boy was arrested outside the scene and is currently being questioned. No weapons were found in connection with this event.
“The deconfinement has not yet started and we ask parents not to rush to school to pick up their children,” indicated the public relations officer of the Longueuil Agglomeration Police Service (SPAL).
According to Mr. Boucher, the SPAL was deployed to the school after being informed that threatening remarks had been made. Once there, police were able to arrest a minor who could potentially be charged with public mischief and threats. This person of interest does not attend the Gérard-Filion school.
As the story is still under investigation, we have not been told what the nature of the comments were or by what means they were made.
The upcoming deconfinement will be done in collaboration with the Marie-Victorin Service Center, SPAL told us.
