Big music, autograph session and applause, the players of the XV of France of rugby were welcomed as they should, Wednesday, March 29, by a good hundred supporters in the stands of the training center of Marcoussis, in the Essone. In full preparation for his second match of the Six Nations Tournament, Saturday April 1 against Ireland, training was open to the public. Supporters who answered present, a sign of an increasingly important craze around the French women.

“We recognized some players like Pauline Bourdon or the captain” enthuses one of Séverine’s daughters, who she is delighted to see so many people in French training, “it’s not just boys, we’re starting to consider girls, it shows that we can also play with girls”.

Strong attendance expected for the next matches

A little further on, Dannie, who came as a neighbor from the Chilly-Mazarin club, remembers her beginnings as a practitioner. “Me, my father did everything. He carried the water bottles, he treated, he trained, he drove the car.” So inevitably, seeing so many people means a lot to him: “in the end, we saw that people were interested, that it’s also technical and beautiful to watch”.

Even Patrick ended up forgetting his prejudices, “at first I thought it wasn’t too feminine, he admitsI saw a match at the Jean Bouin stadium and I thought it was nice, I prefer girls’ matches”. The enthusiasm in any case surprises the second line of the XV of France Maëlle Picut, “It’s incredible… there are children! We’ve never seen that, it’s so cool!”. Maëlle Picut will have to get used to it, because we are heading towards full stadiums for the two matches of Les Bleues in France, in Vannes with the reception of Scotland, on April 16 and in Grenoble and the arrival of Wales, April 23.
