“Around 80 vehicles” liberal nurses “carry out a snail operation on the outer ring road” from Rennes Tuesday March 19, forming “a traffic jam for several kilometers”, indicates Bison Futé. Liberal nurses are called to demonstrate throughout France at the call of the collective of Angry Liberal Nurses, Sniil and Convergence Infirmière, respectively the second and third unions in the profession. Other snail operations are planned in Reunion and Pau and rallies are to be held on Tuesday in around twenty towns.

The mobilized nurses are demanding, among other things, recognition of the “drudgery of the job”, to be able to retire at full rate at 60 or 62 years old and the revaluation of the basic rate of nursing procedures, which has stagnated since 2009 despite inflation. Since the end of January, the Angry Nurses collective and other nursing organizations have organized sporadic mobilizations in the territory with filter barriers and distribution of leaflets. A “major national demonstration in Paris” is scheduled for April 4, according to the collective.

The FNI, the first union of liberal nurses, is not participating in Tuesday’s action but is asking for the opening of price negotiations with Health Insurance. “What we are doing is sending a warning to the government and waiting to see if it leads to concrete measures. We are waiting for a framework letter which would allow us to open discussions with Health Insurance”underlined Monday the president of the National Federation of Liberal Nurses, Daniel Guillerm, during a press conference. “The FNI obviously reserves the right to join the movement in a tougher and more operational manner” if its demands are not heard, warned the president of the majority union.
