Former international second line Arnaud Méla has been appointed head coach of Brive to replace Jeremy Davidson, who was laid off on Saturday after the defeat against Toulouse (45-7), the Corrèze club announced on Monday.
“CA Brive today announces the appointment of Arnaud Mela as interim head coach with Didier Faugeron as sports coordinator at his side“, said the Brive club in a press release. Current coaches Jean-Baptiste Péjoine, Goderdzi Shvelidze and Philippe Carbonneau retain their prerogatives.”The role of Arnaud Méla, Didier Faugeron and all the staff will be to unite the whole group around one objective: to rapidly improve sporting results. The whole club is determined to meet this challenge“.
Arnaud Méla, 42 (4 selections), CAB player for nine seasons (2008-2017), had started a coaching career in Albi (National) before returning to Corrèze in 2021 to take care of the key. Northern Ireland manager Jeremy Davidson, 48, was suspended on Saturday following his team’s loss to Toulouse (7-45), the third at home this season.
In office since 2018, Davidson had allowed the CAB to go back to the Top 14 in his first year at the head of the club before finishing the following three exercises in 11th (twice) and 12th places.
