Arnaud Kalimuendo (PSG) signs for five seasons with Rennes

This time the story between Arnaud Kalimuendo and PSG is well and truly over. After two seasons on loan at RC Lens (L1), the native of Suresnes has decided to commit definitively to Stade Rennais. Aged 20 and with 70 appearances in Ligue 1 (21 goals), the striker was an important market value for PSG which needs cash to complete certain files. The amount of the transfer has not been disclosed but according to several sources it is around 20 million euros for the departure of the international hopeful to Brittany.

Despite excellent preparation with PSG this season and a regular presence in Christophe Galtier’s training group 1, Arnaud Kalimuendo had very little chance of having enough time to have a good season. The PSG attack is complete with the presence of the fantastic three (Mbappé, Neymar and Messi) but also Pablo Sarabia, Hugo Ekitike and the undesirable (and unsellable) Mauro Icardi.

During his press conference before the PSG – Montpellier match, Christophe Galtier, the Parisian coach, returned to this departure of the international hopeful striker:

I am happy for him. Things were very clear since the recovery concerning Arnaud. He was coming off a very good season at Lens and aspires to have similar playing time. Here it would have been difficult. He prepared very well for the team, the friendly matches, the Trophée des Champions, the first official matches, but I knew from the start that Arnaud was going to leave us, whether it was abroad or in France.
