A series of searches targeting organized crime and firearms and drug trafficking are underway Thursday morning in various regions of Quebec.
The operation, led by the Integrated Arms Trafficking Team (EILTA) and coordinated by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), is the result of an investigation initiated in October 2023.
Eleven people involved in illegal arms trafficking were arrested during the searches.
More than 100 police and civilian resources are mobilized in 13 municipalities, including Pointe-Claire, Longueuil, Boucherville, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Côme and Repentigny.
The searches are aimed at “neutralizing a network of arms and drug trafficking affecting the Montreal and Quebec regions,” the SQ said in a press release.
