Nantes navigator Armel Tripon capsized on Sunday evening, a little before midnight. Engaged in the 1000 Milles des Sables race. He was sailing downwind in relatively unstable conditions (20-25 knots of wind) about thirty miles from La Coruña at the northwestern tip of Spain. The skipper took refuge inside his boatthe trimaran Les P’tits Doudous.
Less than two hours after capsizing, Armel Tripon was airlifted. He arrived in La Coruña.
Operations to recover his boat have been launched.
