Crimes against the person investigators from the Laval Police Department have just arrested an influential street gang member in relation to a spectacular murder attempt that occurred in the middle of the afternoon, on May 9, on Île Jésus.
Posted at 1:44 p.m.
The suspect, Jemsley Olivier Printemps-Sanon, 25, believed by police to be a member of the Flamehead Boys, was arrested at the Sorel Detention Facility, where he is being held pending trial in another case.
He will be charged with attempted murder, discharging a firearm and possession of a restricted firearm in relation to the events of May 9 and remains in custody until his next court appearance.
That day, around 2:20 p.m., two suspects in a vehicle opened fire a dozen times at a group of three people who were in front of the Place Saint-Martin low-rent housing, located on the rue Dumouchel, near boulevard Le Corbusier, in the Chomedey district.
Miraculously, none of the targeted individuals was affected.
This event raised the concern of area residents and in the hours that followed, individuals launched insults and challenges on social networks. “You shoot like shit,” wrote one of them, mocking the shooters on rue Dumouchel.
Three events in four days
According to our information, this event could be linked to a conflict between the Flameheads, present in the Laval-des-Rapides district, and another gang called Zone 3, whose stronghold is in the Chomedey district.
The rue Dumouchel attempt could be a retort to an event the day before in which a 28-year-old man, Junior Lemoyne Printemps, and a 14-year-old boy, were respectively killed and wounded by bullets, as they returned a family celebration held in the Paragon reception hall in the Chomedey district.
Junior Lemoyne Printemps would have had a family connection with Printemps-Sanon who would have been present at the same party, according to our information.
This conflict between the Flameheads and Zone 3 could be the backstory of a third violent event which occurred on May 11, when a man in his 30s was injured still in broad daylight by projectiles fired from a black Cadillac, on rue Normandin, in the Chomedey sector.
Two girls, who were looking for a cat on the street, panicked when they heard the shots and hid, according to an amateur video broadcast in the media and on social networks.
The investigation into these events, led by Crimes Against the Person investigators and their colleagues from the Organized Crime Section, is continuing.
Well known to police
Printemps-Sanon has already been arrested in the past for possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was arrested and remains detained since last May for breach of condition.
Printemps-Sanon, who is also a musician, has already shown himself with firearms in music videos and proclaims his membership of the Flameheads on social networks. He had also pleaded guilty last March to various charges related to possession of a firearm.
He regularly refers to “Dirty L’s” to signify his influence in the Laval-des-Rapides area.
