The SQ took stock in the evening of the event that kept Saguenay—Lac-Saint-Jean on alert.
The police were first called around 11 a.m., since a man was shot and wounded in the Chemin de la Branche Ouest sector, according to SQ publicist Camille Savoie.
“According to the first information received, at least one shot was fired,” she said. The victim was transported to a hospital. She is currently in critical but stable condition.
Since information suggested that the suspect was still in the area of the crime, the SQ then triggered an alert, shortly before 2 p.m. The SQ then asked citizens to lock their doors and avoid being near windows.
“The suspect was located and subdued by the police around 5:45 p.m. in the area targeted by the alert,” said Camille Savoie.
The suspect was met by investigators from the SQ’s major crimes service. A forensic identification technician was also dispatched to the scene of the crime.
The investigation is continuing.
