A 31-year-old man was charged with armed assault on two young children in Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges last weekend.
The event occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in a municipal residence located a few kilometers from Mont-Sainte-Anne.
The two toddlers, aged 2, suffered serious injuries when the suspect, Alexis Lavoie-Gilbert, grabbed a poker to attack them.
They were transported to the hospital center, but their lives would not be threatened, specifies Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson for the Sureté du Québec (SQ).
The 31-year-old suspect from Lévis was arrested on site. His connection to the victims has not been disclosed by authorities.
The latter appeared Sunday to face charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
However, other charges could be added in the coming days, while Lavoie-Gilbert must return to the Quebec courthouse on Thursday.
“The investigation continues,” underlines Ms. Brochu-Joubert.
