A resident of Marval, in the south of Haute-Vienne, was kidnapped by her husband for almost 3 hours, late Thursday afternoon. The man, armed and reclusive in their house, locked his wife outside without it being able to leave the fully fenced and locked garden.
The victim called the emergency services around 5 p.m. through the firefighters who immediately alerted the gendarmerie. The circumstances and the profile of the man, a former soldier, led the gendarmes to request the regional branch of the GIGN based in Nantes.

The Haute-Vienne gendarmerie negotiator finally managed to reason with the maniac, without the men of the GIGN needing to enter into the negotiation or to use force.
The man was arrested without incident. At the end of his custody, he was hospitalized under duress due to his unstable psychological profile.
