We had to win on the pitch to reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup. It is now done for Argentina, which secured the penultimate qualifying ticket, Sunday October 8, in Nantes. Facing deserving and creative Japanese, the Pumas were more solid and consistent over time, especially in the second period where they widened the gap.

Authors of a first try in the first minute of play, the Argentines were able to react immediately to each of the three tries scored by the Japanese. In total, this match was a festival for the Argentines with five tries, including a hat-trick scored by Mateo Carreras (28′, 46′, 68′). After being eliminated at the end of the group stages during the previous edition in 2019, the Argentines thus returned to the quarter-finals, unlike the Japanese who did not reach the final phase, unlike four years ago. In the quarter-final, the Pumas will face Wales on Saturday October 14 at 5 p.m. in Marseille.
