A visit with multiple challenges

Joe Biden’s diplomatic visit aims, firstly, toshow American support directly to the Jewish state.

Among the strong signals of this support, the deployment of a dozen US Navy warships or the president’s request to $14.3 billion to Congress to help Israel, including 10.6 for armaments.

The United States has also decided to place nearly 2,000 reservists on alert for potential deployment in the region. The objective: “ increase the ability of American Defense to respond quickly to an evolving security situation in the Middle East”according to a White House spokesperson.

Bringing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip

This visit also aimed to bring in thehumanitarian aid to Gaza, including the necessary food. According to Dominique Moïsi, Joe Biden’s trip has started to bear fruit in recent daysnotably by the entry of the first humanitarian trucks during the weekend.

Two American hostages released

Among the other stated objectives of the American president: trying to free the hostages held by Hamas. Friday October 20, the Palestinian Islamist movement claimed to have freed two American hostagesone of the results of the president who had exerted pressure, but also thanks to the mediation of Qatar.
