On the 12/13 set of France 3, journalist Jean-Christophe Batteria returns, Thursday, September 8, to the use of sweeteners in food.
Do sweeteners cause cardiovascular disease? This is the question asked by INSERM researchers during a large-scale study. No less than 100,000 participants took part. The study spanned twelve years. “Researchers found that of 100,000 people, 346 consuming sweeteners had strokes”explains journalist Jean-Christophe Batteria on the 12/13 set of France 3, Thursday September 8.
And to continue: “On the other hand, there are 314 people who did not consume sweeteners. The difference is a little less than 10% increased risk.” The journalist explains that, for the researchers, we enter the consumer category from two thirds of a can of sugar-free drink – zero or light. Sweeteners are mainly found in sugar-free drinks (53%), sweets (30%) and dairy products (8%).
