As the European elections approach, the National Rally led by Jordan Bardella is criticized by the majority who criticize it for its lack of coherence. True or false ?
A real gap is widening between the words and actions of the National Rally in the European Parliament. In any case, this is what the members of the majority are saying in the run-up to the European elections. Franceinfo thus verified a few themes.
On ecology first, the RN claims to oppose the European Green Deal, because the party claims to prefer an ecology that protects the wallets of the French. However, in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), MEPs from the National Rally opposed the creation of a social climate fund supposed to help the most vulnerable households a few months ago.
The RN denies being inconsistent
Another subject where the National Rally would be inconsistent: the war in Ukraine. A few weeks ago, Jordan Bardella, head of the list for the European elections, displayed a firm stance against Russia. But in reality, the RN abstained or voted against most resolutions supporting Ukraine. The same goes for the texts which condemned the conditions of detention of the Russian opponent Alexeï Navalny, before his death.
Finally, on women’s rights, the RN still displays contradictory positions. Each time, the RN denies being inconsistent and explains that the proposed laws do not suit them.
