The consumption of French fruits and vegetables is important. But often, the prices of the labels sometimes make the yo-yo, and the French turn to other sources. The 13 Hours conducted its investigation.

On the stalls of a market in Ivry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne), customers are watching for the first French seasonal fruits. It’s a slightly higher price that sometimes makes you think. “I buy mostly French if the prices suit me. But it happens that Spanish fruit is significantly cheaper”notes a customer. “It’s more expensive, but hey… Good fruit, I enjoy it”, laughs a customer. According to a primeur, French products are always more expensive at the start of the season, but the difference decreases during the summer.

All fruit is expensive

This year, all fruit is expensive, regardless of provenance. “Usually, the price difference is from simple to double”specifies the primeur Marwane Abdelmoumene. Moreover, thehe harvests promise to be better than last year, whichfor example apricots to lower theur price of 21%. Arborists are now hoping the weather won’t spoil the start of saiits promising.
