The communist candidate for the presidential election refers to the report of the High Authority for the transparency of public life. The latter unveiled, Tuesday, March 8, the declarations of assets and interests of the twelve candidates for the presidential election.
Suspected of fictitious employment – the prosecution has opened an investigation for embezzlement of public funds – when he was parliamentary assistant to a deputy between 2009 and 2014, Fabien Roussel disputed these accusations before asserting: “There is some who have been in politics for 30, 40 years and who are among the richest 2%. They are five with a heritage of more than one million euros“.
A rather valid assertion. According to his declaration, Fabien Roussel has a heritage of 220,000 euros. That’s far less than most of his opponents. The LR candidate, Valérie Pécresse, has assets of 9.7 million euros, four of which correspond to houses and land. That of Éric Zemmour, Reconquest candidate, is estimated at 4.2 million euros. But we cannot say, as Fabien Roussel does, that this capital is linked to his political mandates since he never had any.
Next come Nicolas Dupont-Aignan from Debout la France with 2 million euros in assets, Jean-Luc Mélenchon from La France insoumise and his 1.4 million euros and Marine le Pen from the National Rally, 1.2 million.
With a heritage of more than one million euros, these five candidates are part of the 5% of French people with the most important heritage.
