Another warning for C8. The channel received a warning from the media regulator, Arcom, because of a show by Cyril Hanouna where guests were wrongly presented as Brav-M police officers, Arcom announced to the AFP, Monday, June 26, confirming information from the L’Informé site. In the Arcom disciplinary scale, the warning is the first step, before the formal notice and the sanctions themselves.
At the beginning of April, on the set of “Touche pas à mon poste!”, three men and a woman, hooded, a black hood on their heads and their voices modified, an orange armband marked “police” on their arms, showed up for some as members of the Brav-M, the motorized brigade for the repression of violent action. The sequence was broadcast when this unit was accused of violence against protesters opposed to pension reform.
A chain accustomed to fines
Cyril Hanouna’s broadcasts are regularly pinned down by the media regulator. According to a count by L’Informé, they have earned C8 a total of 23 reprimands since 2012 (seven warnings, eight formal notices and eight sanctions). In early February, C8 was fined a record 3.5 million euros because of the insults hurled live by its star host at LFI deputy Louis Boyard in November.
At the end of May, insulting remarks aimed at the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, motivated a new fine of 300,000 euros. Then, on June 22, it was facts of clandestine advertising in the programs of Cyril Hanouna which earned a total of 200,000 euros in fines for C8, a channel of the Canal + group, controlled by the billionaire Vincent Bolloré.
