WE, the long-awaited new album from Arcade Fire, will finally be released on May 6th. The collection of seven songs recorded in New Orleans, El Paso, and Mount Desert Island comes five years later Everything Nowthe Montreal band’s latest studio album, released in 2017.

This is a sixth album for the group led by the tandem Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, who produced this opus in collaboration with Nigel Godrich, producer emeritus of the best records of Radiohead, ofOKComputer up to In Rainbows.
According to information obtained by pitchforkthe vinyl version of the album features the songs Age of Anxiety I, Age of Anxiety II (Rabbit Hole) and End of the Empire I-IV on one side called “I” (I), while the coins The Lightning I-II, Unconditional I (Lookout Kid), Unconditional II (Race and Religion) and We end up on the “WE” (us) side.
The cover of the disc is illustrated by a close-up photo of an eye of the artist JR, with airbrush retouching by Terry Pastor, who notably worked on the albums Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardustby David Bowie.
The announcement of the launch of the album coincided with the unveiling of a first clip, that of the piece The Lightning I, IIwhich was directed Emily Kai Bock.
Last year, Arcade Fire recorded a 45-minute track titled Memories of the Age of Anxiety and which was intended for the Headspace meditation app. The group had also presented the song Generation A to Stephen Colbert’s special broadcast on the evening of the American elections, in November 2020, but this original composition has never been made available on the broadcasting platforms, nor can it be found on WE.
Recovery Baby Minerecorded in 2019 for the film Dumboby Tim Burton, does not appear on the new disc either.
