(Toronto) The Montreal Canadiens have announced that defender Arber Xhekaj has been placed on the injured list and that he has recalled defender Corey Schueneman from his Laval Rocket school club.
The Canadiens announced these decisions on Saturday morning, a few hours before their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, at Scotiabank Arena.
Xhekaj suffered an upper body injury following a fight against Vincent Desharnais of the Edmonton Oilers last Sunday at the Bell Centre.
The team management has clarified that Xhekaj will meet with a specialist very soon. The Canadiens will provide an update following this meeting.
In 51 games this season, Xhekaj has five goals and eight assists. He also accumulated 101 penalty minutes on his record.

Corey Schueneman
As for Schueneman, he has five goals and 13 assists in 43 games played with the Rocket this season.
He has yet to play with the Canadiens in 2022-23.
The 27-year-old Schueneman has two goals and six points to his name in 24 NHL games.
