(Doha) Quebecers Pamela Ware and Mia Vallée were visibly shaken by their failure in the 3m synchro springboard on Wednesday at the World Aquatic Sports Championships.
Ware, from Greenfield Park, and Vallée, from Beaconsfield, settled for 25e and 29e positions, respectively, during the preliminaries in the individual 3m springboard event. Only the top 18 divers qualified for the semi-finals of the event, which will be presented on Friday.
Ware tried to quickly turn the page on his disappointment the day before on the 3m synchro springboard, in the company of Vallée.
Ware completely missed her takeoff jump on her fifth and final dive of the competition and simply dropped feet first into the Doha pool. As a result, Canada ended up on 15e rank.
On the other hand, Quebecer Nathan Zsombor-Murray and his teammate Rylan Wiens finished in fifth place in the men’s 10m synchro final, with 388.20 points for their six dives on the program.
The event was won by China with 470.76 points, ahead of Great Britain (422.37) and Ukraine (406.47). Mexico finished at the foot of the podium, with 390.87 points.
In the medal table, China dominates the Aquatic Worlds with 16 records (12-3-1), ahead of Australia (2-3-1) and the Netherlands (2-1-0). Canada is in eighth place with two medals (1-1-0), those of Jacqueline Simoneau.
