April Wine | Myles Goodwyn, one of the band’s founders, will no longer tour

(Toronto) Myles Goodwyn, one of the founders of the Canadian band April Wine, has announced that he will no longer tour with his band. He will say his farewell to the stage in March.

The band’s Halifax-based vocalist and guitarist said recurring problems with diabetes led him to make the decision.

However, the 74-year-old musician maintains that he will continue his collaboration with April Wine. He intends to remain producer and composer for the next albums.

He plans to play his last concert with the group on March 2 in Nova Scotia in a city and venue that have yet to be announced.

Goodwyn is the last original member of the group formed in 1969. Several of the group’s songs have reached the Canadian charts of the most popular songs like Roller, Just Between You and Me and You Could Have Been a Lady.

The group was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2010. April Wine settled in Montreal early in its existence.

Marc Parent, a member of Ottawa-based progressive rock band Eight Seconds, will replace Goodwyn on April Wine as lead singer and guitarist.

The group made the announcement on its Facebook page on December 19.
