Apple will launch an application dedicated to classical music

(Paris) Apple Music Classical is the name of the new application that the American group will launch at the end of March, which promises “the largest catalog of classical music in the world”, with exclusive albums and an advanced search mode.

With five million songs, this app could compete with the few applications exclusively dedicated to classical music, including Idagio, currently the only subscription in the world for audio streaming and concerts (two million songs).

Apple Music Classical, which launches on March 28, will “make it quick and easy to find any recording in the world’s largest catalog of classical music, with fully-optimized search,” according to a statement from the group released Thursday.

It thus gives “the possibility of searching by composer, work, conductor, or even by catalog number, in order to instantly find specific recordings”.

Listeners “can also enjoy the best audio quality available and rediscover many tunes in a whole new, immersive way with spatial audio.”

The app will also feature “composer biographies” and “in-depth guides to many key works,” among other things.

Until now, classical music was included in the Apple Music offer, as is the case for other streaming services (Qobuz, Spotify, etc.). Apple specifies that it will be necessary to have an Apple Music subscription and that the new app will soon be available on Android.
