Apple | For cloudy days ★★★★

A veil of melancholy often envelops the songs of Claire Pommet, known in song under the pseudonym Pomme, whom we have seen more than once with his wife, Safia Nolin. It remains present on Consolationhis third album, released at the end of August.

The difference here is that even if she still relies on a piano that has the soul vague, her new songs, recorded in Quebec, are often dressed with delicate electronic touches – arrangements signed by her compatriot Flavien Berger .

With a title like Consolation, we do not expect songs hop life. Pomme offers an album imbued with spleen, but also with a diffuse warmth carried by a soft voice. A feeling of…comfort emerges from his bubble-songs which dream of comfort.

Nothing can be said against these songs: they are elegant, imbued with fine poetry and chiselled with taste. However, they rarely surprise. alone nellyinspired by Nelly Arcan, and Blue stand out rhythmically. Pomme also always sings in the same fragile tone, imbued with vulnerability, as if she were expressing only one emotion from one end of her record to the other.

Consolation will certainly appeal to those who already have an affinity with the Apple universe and to others who have a penchant for apartment songs or who like cloudy days.
