War in Gaza: António Guterres calls for “a ceasefire” to end the Palestinians’ “nightmare”




A new vote demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza will take place on Monday, March 25, at the UN. Its secretary general, António Guterres, calls for a truce to end the nightmare.

Men and children, bloodied on the ground. In northern Gaza, an aid point was the scene of a new tragedy on Saturday March 23. According to the Hamas Ministry of Health, Israeli fire left 19 people dead and several dozen injured as they waited for aid trucks to arrive.

The attack comes on Gazans already affected by famine. While the specter of an Israeli offensive hangs over more than a million Palestinian refugees in Rafah. Present on site, the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, called for de-escalation. “More than ever, it is time to establish an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. It is time to silence the guns, the Palestinians of Gaza, women and men, are plunged into an endless nightmare”, did he declare. The Israeli army denies being behind any air strike, or shooting at the convoy or the people around it.
