The Spurs have their new coach. The Italian Antonio Conte will now officiate on the bench at Tottenham, the London club announced on Tuesday (November 2nd). The former Inter Milan coach has signed up with the English club until June 2023, with an optional year. Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked Monday, November 1, two days after the heavy defeat (3-0) conceded by his home team against Manchester United.

“I can’t wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality and determination that has always distinguished me, as a player and a coach.“Said the Italian technician in the club’s statement, explaining that his engagement could already have taken place last summer, before Nuno Espirito Gomes signed with Spurs.”Last summer our union did not take place because the end of my relationship with Inter was still too recent and emotionally too tied to the end of the season. Now that the opportunity has returned, I have chosen to seize it with great conviction.

Antonio Conte has been free from any contract since leaving Inter Milan last summer. Winner of the Italian championship three times with Juventus (2012, 2013, 2014), he also coached the Italian national team between 2014 and 2016, then won the title of champion of England in 2017 with Chelsea.

His mission will be to revive the Spurs who have had a complicated start to the season. Tottenham are currently ranked eighth in the Premier League and are only third in their group in the Europa Conference Conference, behind Rennes.
