The former player, trained at LOSC and passed through Lens, has lived for 19 years in the North of England. In Manchester, where he lives with his family, he has devoted himself since 2019 to his reconversion. The former double winner of the Coupe de France with Nantes hopes to become a coach in the coming years. He is preparing, at 48, to pass the UEFA Pro License, the equivalent of the DEPF in France, the diploma which opens the doors to the high level.

When I sign for Lens, it’s only been 6 months since I lost my mom
Antoine Sibierski made the choice in 2000 to sign for Lens with this former Lille label: “It was a well-considered choice. I knew it was going to be difficult. Lensois see me as a former LOSC player and Lille see me as a traitor. I developed in my youth a mental strength which enabled me to take the bull by the horns.”

He therefore had the chance to play derby under the colors of the 2 teams. Memories jostled in his mind, but 2 derby kept a head start: With Lille, that of February 1996 during which he opened the scoring with a direct free kick before seeing Lens equalize. With the RCL, that of February 2003, when he received a standing ovation at Grimonprez-Jooris from both Lensois and Lille supporters after a 2-0 victory.
