The latest CRIF report published on Wednesday January 24 reveals an increase in anti-Semitic acts of 1,000% since the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7, i.e. 1,242 acts recorded in three months.

Menacing graffiti, like in Carcassonne. In Paris, the door of an octogenarian Israelite couple burned down. Or even these threatening letters sent to MP Jérôme Guedj. Anti-Semitic acts are exploding: 1,676 were recorded in 2023 compared to 436 in 2022. And the pace has accelerated since October 7 with a 1,000% increase in anti-Semitic acts.

The school environment is particularly concerned

Consequence: Jews are extra careful in hiding any sign of religious affiliation. According to Jewish institutions in France, 13% of these acts occur in schools, in college in particular, and the perpetrators are increasingly young. The government is committed to the greatest firmness. The perpetrators face 6 months in prison in the event of insults, and 5 years and a fine of 75,000 euros in the event of death threats.
