“Anti-Semitic acts in France have tripled since last fall and 887 incidents have been recorded in this first half of the year alone.”said Friday August 9 Gérald Darmanin, resigning Minister of the Interior, currently traveling to rue des Rosiers in Paris to pay tribute to the victims of the attack that occurred on August 9, 1982.
“We are facing a wave of anti-Semitism, a wave of rare magnitude, stronger, more violent”the Prime Minister had already indicated last May. During the first three months of 2024, 366 anti-Semitic facts have been recorded in France, or four anti-Semitic acts per day. This figure is up 300% compared to the same period in 2023.
“It is the anti-Semitic speech that is being released, that is being unbridled, it is violence, it is intimidation, it is letters of abuse, insults, threats”, Gabriel Attal had then detailed. This increase began following October 7, with 1,200 acts recorded between the Hamas attack in Israel and the end of 2023. In France, 60% of anti-religious acts are anti-Semitic.
