The demonstration in opposition to the curfew held on Saturday evening cost the participants dearly: more than fifty tickets were handed over to the few participants.
A total of 57 tickets related to non-compliance with the curfew were distributed. In addition, a man was arrested for assaulting a police officer.
“We do not report any injured citizen or agent,” said agent Véronique Comtois, media relations of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The demonstration began on Saturday around 9:30 p.m. About fifty opponents of the curfew then stood in front of the Montreal offices of Prime Minister François Legault. They then walked west from Sherbrooke Street before descending towards the Old Port via Crescent Street.
Last April, an anti-curfew demonstration degenerated in the Old Port of Montreal. Garbage cans had been set on fire and shop fronts smashed.
