Anthony Mantha traded to Vegas

French will be spoken in the Vegas Golden Knights locker room. They have indeed acquired forward Anthony Mantha from the Washington Capitals.

Vegas gives a choice of 2e tour in 2024 and a choice of 4e tour in 2026 in Washington in exchange for the big 29-year-old winger. The Capitals are also retaining half of Mantha’s $5.7 million salary this season. His contract expires this summer.

In 56 games, Mantha has 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points this season. He reached 20 for the first time since his 25 goals in 2018-2019.

With Mantha, the Golden Knights now have four Quebec forwards in their ranks, the other three being Jonathan Marchessault, Nicolas Roy and William Carrier.

With this decision, the Capitals are visibly putting an end to the 2024 series. Before Tuesday’s matches, they were seven points from the last place giving access to the tournament. However, they had three games in hand on the Lightning, who occupies this last place.

After the Red Wings and the Capitals, Mantha will now have a third organization in the NHL.
