General manager Bill Zito made the announcement on Saturday, saying he expects the 26-year-old to return mid-season. Duclair sustained the injury during offseason practice and saw the doctors earlier this week.

The Pointe-Claire native had the best campaign of his career last year, scoring 31 goals and adding 27 assists for a total of 58 points in 74 games. In the playoffs, where the Panthers were defeated in the second round by the Tampa Bay Lightning, Duclair added three points in eight games.

The left-winger is under contract with Florida through the end of the 2023-24 season, at an average annual salary of $3 million.
