Another victory for the Huskies

The Huskies don’t lose often these days, and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada proved to be easy prey on Sunday in Rouyn-Noranda. The Abitibi-Témiscamingue team obtained a point in a 10th game in a row by winning 5 to 3.

Brad Yetman’s squad are 8-0-2 during this streak.

Louis-Philippe Fontaine, Tristan Allard, Mathis Perron, Thomas Verdon and Dyllan Gill hit the target for the local favorites, while Anri Ravinskis, Xavier Sarrasin and Justin Carbonneau replied. It was also Carbonneau’s first goal in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).

While the Huskies are within two points of the Victoriaville Tigres and the Sherbrooke Phoenix at the top of the Western Conference, the Armada is stuck in eighth and last place.

Still Melanson

The Phoenix themselves extended their unbeaten streak in regulation time to six by virtue of a 5-2 win against the Cataractes in Shawinigan.

Jacob Melanson scored a hat trick in his third game with the Estrie team. Since acquiring the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, he has scored five goals and seven points.

Marc-André Gaudet and Andrew Belchamber also deceived the vigilance of Rémi Delafontaine, who yielded five times on 28 throws in the losing clan. Samuel St-Hilaire made 26 saves, being beaten by Lorenzo Canonica and Isaac Ménard.

Missed opportunity

The Tigers, for their part, missed a great opportunity to exclusively retain first place in the West by visiting the Saguenéens from Chicoutimi to Saguenay. Zachary Gravel scored the winning goal for the latter with 90 seconds remaining to give them a 6-4 victory.

Édouard Carrier, Emmanuel Vermette, Andrei Loshko, Maxim Massé and Alexis Morin (empty net) also contributed to the victory, while Tommy Cormier, Egor Goriunov, Maël Lavigne and Pier-Olivier Roy replied.

In short

The Wildcats posted their fifth straight victory, this time by a score of 4 to 1 against the Charlottetown Islanders in Moncton.

Justin Béland scored twice and added an assist as the Rimouski Oceanic defeated the Sea Dogs 4-1 in Saint John.

Jordan Dumais scored late and the Mooseheads earned a point for their 13th straight game. This time they beat the Cape Breton Eagles 5-4 in Halifax.
