Another old record within reach of the Bruins

The Boston Bruins will have the chance to score a double hit tonight as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at TD Garden.

With a victory, they could officially get their hands on the President’s Trophy awarded to the overall champion. At the same time, they could set a franchise record with a 58th win this season.

In the 1970-71 season, the Bruins had 57 wins. It’s been an exceptional season in a context where parity is strong in the NHL.

That’s not all. Earlier this week, the Bruins earned their 27th road win this season. The old brand belonged to the 1971-72 edition which had registered 26.
