A total of 44 athletes will be selected to participate in this camp in front of NFL scouts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 3-4.
The NFL evaluates players and selects some to train in the United States for three months, after which final choices are made to assign players to NFL teams for the 2023 season. They must then earn a spot in team building.
This will be the fourth international evaluation camp after the one in Australia in 2018, another in Germany in 2019 and in London last year.
“Hosting the international evaluation camp in London for the second year provides tremendous exposure to our sport,” said Roman Oben, vice president of football development for the NFL. It allows us to evaluate new talent on a global scale, to shine a light on our sport and to offer participants the opportunity to compete at the highest level. »
Athletes representing up to 13 countries will be evaluated for a potential position in the International Player Pathway program run by the NFL. The program, instituted in 2017, aims to provide top international athletes with the opportunity to compete in the NFL, improve their skills and ultimately earn a position in the NFL.
Washington Commanders defensive end Efe Obadu, Philadelphia Eagles tackle Jordan Mailata and Las Vegas Raiders fullback Jakob Johnson earned NFL jobs through the program.
