A call to 911 around 3:20 a.m. Saturday morning this time indicated that smoke was coming from a business located on Saint-Denis Street, near Crémazie Boulevard, in the Villeray sector.
“When the police arrived on the scene, the firefighters were in the process of bringing the fire under control. According to initial information, a window and a glass door in the store were smashed and an incendiary object may have been thrown inside,” said Constable Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal. (SPVM).
The latter confirmed that an incendiary object was found at the scene.
No one was injured as the business was closed at the time. Trade damage is minor.
There were no immediate arrests.
The firefighters entrusted the investigation to the Arson Section of the SPVM.
“The scene has been protected for investigators who will travel to the scene during the day to analyze the scene and try to understand the exact circumstances of this event,” said agent Chèvrefils.
“Checks will be made at the level of the buildings located nearby to verify whether their surveillance cameras could have captured images of the suspect or suspects. »
This is the latest in a series of arson attacks targeting businesses in the metropolis.
