Another life for Girondine shells

The Coquilles association was born from a simple observation: the volume of shellfish waste is significant in Gironde. Fine consumers of oysters in particular, the Girondins thus produce a lot of waste which is nevertheless usable. No more piled up waste, make way for a new life!

The new life of shells

Thus, the association proposes to collect and recover this shellfish waste in short circuits and locally. Consumers and professionals who produce waste are thus solicited, as are the agricultural community, for the reuse of this waste. The objective: to avoid the use of fossil resources by reusing these shells.

An action to be developed over the long term

The Coquilles association has already met with great success during the end-of-year celebrations with its collection bins offered in certain specific locations. For this, she works with the Détritivores for the collection of waste. Unfortunately, the experience was not sustained over the long term due to a lack of resources. Also, the association hopes to be able to continue its development because the needs and the usefulness of its approach are well established.

To develop and publicize its approach, the association Coquilles can count on its volunteers. Notice to volunteers, the team needs operational support and opens its Board of Directors to those who want it.
