ANOTHER hat trick for Auston Matthews!

Auston Matthews scored a hat trick for the second straight game in a 9-2 win for the Toronto Maple Leafs over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday at Scotiabank Arena.

The number 34 now has 6 three-goal matches this season, which had not been done since the 1995-1996 season when Mario Lemieux achieved the same feat of arms.

If he continues at this pace, Matthews is heading towards a campaign of 75 goals, he who already has 48 since the launch of the campaign. Besides the American, Bobby McMann, Jake McCabe, William Nylander, Tyler Bertuzzi and Nicholas Robertson scored for the local favorites.

Eleven Maple Leafs players collected at least one point during the game.

Frank Vatrano and Ryan Strome provided the replies for the visitors.

Thanks to this gain, Toronto regained third place in the Atlantic Division, then held until recently by the Tampa Bay Lightning. As for the Ducks, they are ranked 14th in the Western Conference.
