“France is about land rights, it’s our history. To call it into question in Mayotte is to call it into question everywhere in France,” said the environmentalist deputy from Paris.

“It’s an announcement, once again, to appeal to the far-right electorate”denounced Monday February 12 on franceinfo the environmentalist deputy of Paris Sandrine Rousseau, after Gérald Darmanin announced on Sunday that he wanted to abolish land rights in Mayotte, still paralyzed by residents angry at insecurity and uncontrolled immigration.

“France is the law of the land, it is our history. To call it into question in Mayotte is to call it into question everywhere in France”estimated Sandrine Rousseau, also denouncing the president of the RN Jordan Bardella, who “jumps on it like a predator on fresh meat to establish the idea that this right is not self-evident inside France either”.

“In this case, it will not resolve anything in the Mayotte crisis”added the environmentalist MP. “The right of soil is the babies who are born on French soil. It is minor compared to the problem that Mayotte is experiencing today, which is a real problem and which is an overload on a territory which is small with limited natural resources”.
