Anny Duperey frankly on Jean-Paul Belmondo: “The current did not pass between us!”

An emblematic figure on the boards, on small and large screens, Anny Duperey has accumulated heaps of memories since the start of her career. She rubbed shoulders with the craziest talents, in front of and behind the cameras, and has some difficult moments… especially during the year 1974, when she was filming with Jean-Paul Belmondo, for Alain Resnais in the film Staviskythe actress had in particular rubbed shoulders with a sacred challenge: to play the wife of a man that she absolutely could not bear.

They ended up sharing a nice friendship, and the disappearance of the actor, on September 6, 2021, was a test. But originally, Anny Duperey was completely allergic to Jean-Paul Belmondo. “I must admit that the current did not pass between usexplains the young grandmother in the columns of the magazine Star TV. This despite what his friend, make-up artist Charly Koubesserian, had told me, whom I knew well, and who was devastated by the climate between us! Jean-Paul was in his ‘puffball’ era. He still had a somewhat misogynistic relationship with women, which was not my cup of tea. He then lived with a luscious Italian woman who put her breasts squarely on the table (Laura Antonelli). In short, let’s say that he liked women ‘cushions’, to put it mildly. However, I was a very free girl, not at all a ‘submissive doll’. To be honest, I must have been the type of woman that scared him.

I went up to him and told him how stupid we had been.

Things were admittedly tense between these two on the set of the film. Stavisky, but time has done its job and eased tensions. Years later, Anny Duperey met Jean-Paul Belmondo at the exit of a theater and she took her courage in both hands to try to bury the hatchet. “I went up to him and told him how stupid we had been. Stavisky, that it was a pity that it did not hang, she says. Well, from that day on, he came to see me every time I performed on stage. We often ate together. A great friendship was born between us, which never wavered until his death. We had finally passed the age of seduction and childishness!
