Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, who had already indicated her intention to swim in the Seine on Wednesday July 17, a few days before the start of the Paris Olympic Games, told France Bleu Paris on Monday that her swim will take place “around 10 o’clock”.
In the company of Tony Estanguet and the prefect of the Ile-de-France region Marc Guillaume, “We’re going to swim at about the level of the Pont Marie, at the foot of the Hôtel de Ville”said the mayor of Paris on the sidelines of the start of the torch relay on Monday morning at the Arena at Porte de la Chapelle. “It’s going to be a joyful, festive, collective moment. There’s going to be a lot of joy and we’re going to try to do some nice dives.”she added.
The Minister of Sports and Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, already swam in the Seine on Saturday morning, in a diving suit, in the centre of Paris and near the competition site.
