This Wednesday, September 20, 2023 marked the start of the official visit of Charles III, King of the United Kingdom, and his wife to France, an important diplomatic event. As soon as they arrived on French soil, the royal couple was welcomed by the Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne, at Orly airport. They then joined the French President, Emmanuel Macron, and his wife Brigitte, for a day rich in symbols and exchanges.
One of the highlights of this visit was the joyful troupe’s walk on the Champs-Élysées, a famous Parisian avenue steeped in history. At the end of the day, the head of state and his guests should go to the prestigious Palace of Versailles for a sumptuous dinner. This emblematic place should serve as a framework for fruitful and friendly exchanges between representatives of the two countries, thus strengthening the historical and cultural ties that unite them. The presence of numerous personalities will also add a festive dimension to this memorable evening.

Anne Hidalgo on the other side of the world
But while the elite have gathered for the occasion, a major figure is missing. Indeed, Anne Hidalgo will not honor Charles III and Camilla Parker Bowles with her presence. The reason ? The mayor of Paris is traveling. On her Instagram account, we learn that the politician is currently in New York “to carry the voice of cities during Climate Week and the United Nations General Assembly”.
And add under a photo of the event: “Very good news, we announced that cities would be at the negotiating table for the next COP28. This is more necessary than ever to succeed!” A publication which sparked strong reactions.
