Anne Hidalgo’s Tour de France passes through the Doubs this Tuesday. The Socialist Party candidate for the presidential election was our guest at 7.45am on France Bleu Besançon. France Bleu: What is your main objective today in the Doubs?
Anne Hidalgo: Of course, to meet the French, to exchange with them, to see all these great initiatives which allow our country to stand up. Initiatives in the business world, solidarity and meeting the French. It is an electoral campaign and I do not know how to do other than meet the French.
I imagine that the objective anyway, is to convince. So exactly, how do you plan to go about convincing all these components that we have in the Doubs?
I believe that what is important today is to bring ideas, to also give his diagnosis, his vision for our country. And to talk about things which are also very concrete things. The question of purchasing power is a crucial question. People have salaries that have not changed while the cost of housing and the share of housing in their income has exploded in recent years. We can see the increase in the price of gasoline. We see the issues relating to work. The French want to work, to work and to have a decent salary which allows them to raise their children. So we are going to talk about school, we are going to talk about health because there too, of course, there is the pandemic. But beyond the pandemic, there is still a crisis in our health system. There are medical deserts, so we are going to talk about the issues that are the issues of their lives and the solutions that we will have to bring for our country to recover. So that we find the taste of others, that we find the taste to talk to each other and not simply to confront each other and to be in conflicts which are more and more numerous. .
You will be in Besançon during the Besançon day, where we are led by an elected ecologist, with the support of the PS. What do you say to voters who are convinced by a plural team?
I believe that of course we have to come together, we have to. But we also have to carry our ideas. For our country, the gathering must be done around a central force and I am this central force. I have proven it in Paris now for a long time. I also see that when we are ourselves, this central force, able to bring together, it is easier. We win more easily. When we are not in front, for example, in the first round of the regional, I did for example in Ile de France, the campaign of Julien Bayou, that does not add up. So we have to understand that the gathering is not just the one and the other, to say “unity unity”. Moreover, everyone is asking for unity, but everyone wants it behind them. Jean-Luc Mélenchon has been in the campaign for five years. Yannick Jadot explains to us that it is his turn. You can see that the debate is totally truncated. So my way of creating unity is to put forward proposals which bring together and proposals which, obviously, start from the need to tackle this ecological crisis, but to leave nothing on the ground. social ground, to do nothing on the republican ground either. And I believe I am in a position that is able to bring together a lot more. Then, you were talking about women earlier in the reports. That’s enough. Me, I’m not here to pass the dishes to anyone.
In your program, there is equal pay for women and men. It is something that is close to your heart.
Still, it’s okay. We are in the 21st century, in 2021. I have a long experience, I have an experience of bringing people together. I have no proof to bring on questions of ecology and in addition, for me, ecology, it first requires a great social support. I am thinking of all these workers in sectors that are going to be carbon-free. I am thinking of all these middle classes and popular categories who need to be supported. Now that’s enough.
