“The ring road will be reduced to a maximum speed of 50 km/h during October.” In an interview with West FranceSaturday August 31, Anne Hidalgo set a horizon for lowering the maximum speed on the Paris ring road, a measure she had announced in November 2023. “It is a public health measure for the 500,000 people who live near the ring road”defends the mayor of Paris.

Can the city of Paris implement this reduction at the beginning of autumn? “We will move forward in compliance with the law,” Anne Hidalgo advances to West France. Laurent Nunez, Paris police prefect, had stated last May that his green light was necessary for the measure to come into force, which the municipality disputes. The government had also opposed this measure, in the fall of 2023.

In this interview, the mayor of Paris also assures that she asked Emmanuel Macron to “don’t go back” on the protection of the Olympic route after the Games, which she now wants to see reserved for carpooling.

Furthermore, Anne Hidalgo announced that the Olympic rings would “stay on the Eiffel Tower” after the end of the Paralympic Games. “As mayor of Paris, the decision is mine and I have the agreement of the IOC. So yes, they will stay on the Eiffel Tower.”she explains about the five rings, hung at the beginning of June on the emblematic monument of the capital.
