Anne Hidalgo announced Wednesday, October 27 that she would remove the regional health agencies, at the heart of the Covid-19 crisis, if she was elected to the presidential election, judging, during a campaign trip to the Drôme, that “as they are they are useless”.

She had already said her wish to abolish the ARS, believing that they had not played their role of anticipating and managing the epidemic crisis. Now she is integrating it into her program: “I will remove the ARS “, said the candidate in front of the nursing staff of the hospital of Saint-Vallier, a small town of 4,000 inhabitants, whose rehabilitation service is threatened for lack of sufficient doctors.

The candidate, who was making her first campaign trip on the theme of health and medical deserts, estimated that “these agencies have become accounting agencies”, who “are there only to contain health expenditure”, while they “should have started from the health needs of the population”.

The regional health agencies are responsible for implementing health policies.
