Anne Hidalgo continues her campaign on the ground

Pastures as far as the eye can see, sometimes interrupted by pretty stone houses. This is the north of Mayenne, wedged between Brittany and Normandy, rural and ageing. 45 kilometers from Laval, the village of La Chapelle-au-Riboul has lost many of its businesses and services. And the solution is not in the neighboring village of Jublains. Here, the only general practitioner warned in her waiting room, she will retire on March 31 after 33 years of service.

Access to public services in rural areas is a subject on which the mayor of Paris has things to say. Anne Hidalgo made the trip to Loiron in Mayenne to promote what works. The France Services area is there to facilitate administrative procedures. For health, these are less obvious. In front of the Laval hospital, which is closing beds for lack of staff, Anne Hidalgo is arrested on all sides. In the meantime, it is the government that has found the shock treatment: two months before the elections, it is injecting 80 million euros to rebuild the Laval hospital.
