Anna Delvey: The scammer paid a fortune for Inventing Anna!

The scam pays off! After the big success of the documentary The Tinder ScammerNetflix launched the series Inventing Anna, which deals more or less with the same subject. Produced by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Murder, The Bridgerton Chronicle…), this one tells the story of a young Russian woman who managed to break into the beautiful New York neighborhoods to live the high life at the expense of rich men.

Popular, however, the series was not so easy to mount: it was first necessary to obtain the rights to the life of the young woman, which she sold for 370,000 dollars. A big check for the platform that wants to make it its new trendy series. But a check that won’t go straight into the famous Anna’s pockets.

We explain to you! This young woman, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, and who called herself Anna Delvey to her “pigeons”, was sentenced by a New York court after her actions. Except that there is, in this particular state, a case law (called “Sons of Sam”) which prohibits someone previously convicted from receiving money on the rights that could be asked of him.

A law passed when money was offered to David Berkowitz, a serial killer of the 70s, to write his memoirs. Anna cannot therefore touch the money she has won… at least, not before reimbursing her victims! His accounts were also blocked in 2019. For example, nearly $200,000 was used to bail out the accounts, $25,000 to pay state fines and $75,000 for lawyers.

Today, she has “only” 22,000 dollars left, which she will be able to use, the judges having released everything. Several voices were raised against the amount released by Netflix, finding it far too high for a woman who has ruined the lives of many people. The real Rachel, played by actress Katie Lowes in the series, had notably declared her incomprehension.

I think promoting this whole story and celebrating a sociopath, narcissist, established criminal is not a good thing.“, she said, very angry.
