Quebec company Epic Storyworlds will launch its very first animated series, Dex and the humanimalsTuesday, on TOU.TV.
Six 11-minute episodes of this children’s series for ages six to twelve will be posted on ICI Radio-Canada’s free portal.
” Dex and the humanimals tells the story of a boy created in a laboratory who has the ability to transform and possess the powers of certain animals. He is being trained to become a super weapon. Dex rebels against the villains who made him,” said Steve Couture, co-founder of Epic Storyworlds.
The animated series takes place in the distant future where normal humans and laboratory-created humanimals coexist.
“Iris, an artificial intelligence, has taken over Greenlandis, which is a species of New York from that era. She put up barriers to divide and rule over the people. The grand plan is to wipe out the living and create an all-robot earth,” added Steve Couture.
A long saga
Epic Storyworlds designed this series from an idea by Raymond Boisvert. A team of 25 people developed Dex and the humanimals in the company’s Loomi Animation 2D animation studios, located in the Saint-Roch district. The Alaclair Ensemble collective composed the theme song.
The Quebec-based company wants to put a first season of 52 episodes online.
“We can easily go with five or six seasons. It’s a world full of possibilities. Dex will grow over the seasons and we will see the characters evolve. We can make a long saga out of it, ”said the ex-CEO of the Frima company, during an interview.
Epic Storyworlds is seeking funding to complete a 52-episode first season.
“We have a French partner who will embark with us during production. We are also looking at broadcasters in English Canada and the United States. We are working on it,” he said.
