Animals will be the stars of the Agricultural Show, which opens on Saturday February 24. In the Landes, a Bazadaise cow breeder prepares his animals before their departure for Paris.
With a gray coat typical of the Bazadaise breed and beautiful muscular development, this 2-year-old show beast is ready for the Agricultural Show, which opens Saturday February 24 in Paris. “This is going to be his first big outing”, confides Joël Sillac, cattle breeder in Perquie (Landes). Before his Parisian trip, the young bull is pampered, washed, clipped and brushed.
A tense context
Despite the tense context, marked by the anger of farmers for several weeks, there is no question for Joël Sillac of boycotting the Agricultural Show. He knows he will find support. “People understand us and are behind us, because they say ‘why import products when you know how to produce them and you produce them as well as elsewhere and more virtuously’“explains the breeder.
